Fertility Services

Coverage for fertility services is available to all employees and eligible dependents enrolled in a Citi medical plan, regardless of fertility diagnosis, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression. Learn more.

Adoption and Surrogacy

If you’re considering adoption or surrogacy, Citi provides financial support to cover certain costs through the Adoption and Surrogacy Assistance Program. Learn more.

OB/GYN Care

Looking for a doctor to support your pregnancy? Your Citi Health Concierge (for Aetna or Anthem members) or Health Advocate (for everyone) can help you find a doctor that meets your needs and preferences. Included Health is another resource available to all employees, a care coordinator can help find specialists and schedule appointments.

 

Fertility Programs

If you enroll in an Anthem or Aetna medical plan, you have access to coverage for comprehensive fertility treatment along with a variety of support services around all aspects of fertility.

Through your Citi medical coverage, the lifetime fertility maximum benefit per family or covered person, whichever occurs first, is:

  • $24,000 for medical services related to comprehensive fertility services, advanced reproductive technology or elective cryopreservation
  • $7,500 for prescription drug costs associated with infertility treatment and elective cryopreservation
Covered Fertility Services

Citi’s medical plans through Aetna and Anthem provide coverage for a wide range of fertility services, such as:

  • Comprehensive infertility services, including:
    • Ovulation induction
    • Intrauterine insemination
  • Advanced reproductive technology (ART), including:
    • In vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles, including freeze-all cycle (fertilization and culture of embryo)
    • Reciprocal IVF cycles
    • Intrauterine embryo lavage
    • Embryo transfer
    • Elective single embryo transfer
    • Artificial insemination
    • Gamete intrafallopian tube transfer (GIFT)
    • Zygote intrafallopian tube transfer (ZIFT)
    • Low tubal ovum transfer
    • Assisted hatching
    • Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and screening (PGS), when it is medically necessary
    • Evaluation by a reproductive endocrinologist or infertility specialist, drug therapy and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
    • All cryopreservation services (freezing of egg, sperm or embryos) when undergoing IVF
    • Cryopreservation (freezing) of sperm or embryos, when medically necessary (if undergoing fertility treatment due to chemotherapy, pelvic radiotherapy or other gonadotoxic therapies, with no storage time limitation
    • Cryopreservation (freezing) of eggs, when medically necessary or chosen electively
    • Cryopreserved embryo transfers
    • Oocyte (Egg) thaw cycles
    • ART services for procedures that are covered expenses including charges associated with storage and procurement of partner's sperm for ART and Testis Biopsy, when the partner is also covered under the Plan
    • Sperm sourcing includes specialized sperm retrieval techniques including vasal sperm aspiration, microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA), percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA), electroejaculation, testicular sperm aspiration (TESA), microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (TESE), seminal vesicle sperm aspiration and sperm recovery from bladder or urine for retrograde ejaculation are considered medically necessary to overcome anejaculation or azoospermia

Please note: Expenses for the diagnosis and treatment of any underlying medical conditions are covered by your Citi medical plan, but they do not count toward the medical or prescription drug lifetime maximum fertility benefit. It’s also important to note that an infertility diagnosis is not required to receive fertility benefits.

Specialized Support

In addition to coverage for treatment, your medical plan also provides additional services to support you throughout your fertility journey.

WINFertilitythrough Anthem

As part of your Anthem medical coverage, you have access to WINFertility for high-quality fertility care. Through the program, you can receive 24/7 support from WIN's Nurse Care Manager who can answer your questions, help you find providers and listen to your concerns while you are trying to get pregnant.

Your Nurse Care Manager can also help you:

  • Learn about the types of drugs used for infertility treatment
  • Understand the side effects, storage and proper usage of your fertility drugs
  • Find a high-risk maternity group and health plan programs to join
  • Access Anthem's National Network of Reproductive Endocrinologists

Aetna’s Infertility Unit

As part of your Aetna medical coverage, you have access to a variety of resources through Aetna’s Infertility Unit for questions that come up through the fertility process. Your Citi Health Concierge can also provide personalized support and guide you to the right resources when you need them. You can contact your Citi Health Concierge by calling the phone number on your medical ID card.

 

Adoption and Surrogacy

If your path to parenthood involves adoption or surrogacy, Citi offers financial support to help you. Through the Adoption and Surrogacy Assistance Program, Citi reimburses up to a lifetime maximum of $30,000 per family to help with certain expenses, such as adoption agency fees, legal fees, and medical expenses not otherwise covered by a medical plan.
