Introducing Personify Health

Virgin Pulse is changing its name to Personify Health on January 1, 2025. The Live Well at Citi Program will continue to work the same, offering all the great wellness resources and rewards you have now, along with some enhanced features that will further help you manage, improve and sustain your health. Any rewards you earn between October 1 and December 31, 2024 will be automatically carried over to the Personify Healthy experience. Once the Virgin Pulse name goes away on January 1, the rewards you earn for completing healthy activities will no longer be referred to as “Pulse Points” or “Pulse Cash.” Watch for more information as we get closer to the new year.

How the Program Works

Citi believes that good health is important. As part of our commitment to helping you and your family live healthy every day, the Live Well at Citi Program offers a variety of resources to support you and reward you for your effort.

You can earn Live Well Rewards each year between October 1 and September 30. Spouses/partners enrolled in a Citi medical plan can also earn Live Well Rewards, too!

You have three ways to earn rewards:

  1. Health Assessment: In the fall, you have the opportunity to take a health assessment to earn a $100 discount on your annual medical plan paycheck deductions the next year or $100 in Live Well Rewards (redeemable for a gift card) if you don’t enroll in Citi medical coverage. If your enrolled spouse/partner also takes the Health Assessment, you can earn an additional $100 discount on your Citi medical coverage costs.
  2. Action rewards: You have several opportunities to earn action rewards throughout the year, which can be immediately converted to gift cards. These reward opportunities include:
    • Biometric screenings: You and your spouse/partner can each earn $50 Pulse Cash for completing a biometric health screening. Biometric screenings provide vital information about your overall health. Download the Health Screening form from Virgin Pulse (visit through My Total Compensation and Benefits or log in directly and bring it to your next doctor’s appointment).
    • Global Community Day: Every year during Global Community Day, Citi colleagues come together to give back to the communities where we live and work. This volunteer initiative gives you the opportunity to participate in meaningful service activities and earn $20 in Live Well Rewards. Visit My Total Compensation and Benefits to learn more. (Note: This opportunity is not available to spouses/partners.)
    • Q2 Triple Tracker: Earn $20 Pulse Cash when you complete sustained activity between March 1 and May 31. Walk at least 10,000 steps or complete 30 minutes of physical activity for 20 days out of a month to earn the reward. To log your exercise, visit the Virgin Pulse website through My Total Compensation and Benefits or log in directly or connect your fitness trackers and devices to the Live Well at Citi mobile app for a seamless experience.
  3. Virgin Pulse Points: Complete healthy activities each quarter to accumulate points toward four levels of rewards, with a maximum of $280 in annual rewards. (Note: The Health Assessment provides valuable information and guidance for what healthy activities might benefit you, but you are not required to complete it before participating in other healthy activities.)

Virgin Pulse Points

All Citi employees, regardless of whether they are enrolled in a Citi medical plan, and spouses/partners who are enrolled in a Citi medical plan can participate in wellness activities designed to improve their health and accumulate Pulse Points.

Each quarter, you (and your spouse/partner if enrolled in a Citi medical plan) can complete activities to accumulate points and unlock four levels of rewards — worth up to $70 per quarter and up to $280 a year (not including action rewards)!

Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Total Reward for the Quarter:
Pulse Points 1,000 points 5,000 points 12,000 points 20,000 points
Live Well Reward $10 $15 $20 $25 $70

Maximum healthy activity rewards per year = $280 ($70 X 4 quarters)

Example:

  • If you reach Level 3 (12,000 points) in Q1, you will earn $45 in rewards (Level 1 = $10 + Level 2 = $15 + Level 3 = $20; total of $45).
  • At the end of Q1, your points will reset and you will begin Q2 with 0 points.
  • If you reach Level 4 (20,000 points) in Q2 you will earn $70 in rewards (Level 1 = $10 + Level 2 = $15 + Level 3 = $20 + Level 4 = $25; total of $70) on top of the $45 you earned in Q1.

FAQs about Earning and Redeeming Rewards

When can I access my Live Well Rewards?

All rewards you earn between October 1 and December 31, 2024, will be available to you beginning January 10, 2025. You may continue to redeem your earned rewards throughout the year up to September 30, 2025, which is the last day of the Live Well at Citi Program year.

How do I redeem my Pulse Points for gift cards?

Go to the Rewards tab in your Virgin Pulse account to select a gift card.

Important Notes Regarding the Taxability of Your Gift Cards

Live Well Rewards are considered taxable income under the current U.S. Internal Revenue Code and you’ll be taxed when you earn rewards. However, to compensate for the tax, Citi will “gross up” or issue payments approximating any tax you’ll pay. That way, you receive the full gift card amount.

You’ll receive a separate paycheck approximating the tax you will pay on the gift card reward amount, which will be listed as “noncash GU.”

Example: If you earned $100 in Live Well Rewards, Citi will add $25 to your paycheck to cover the estimated 25% federal supplemental tax rate you’ll pay on your gift card earnings. You’ll receive a separate paycheck approximating the tax you will pay on the gift card reward amount, which will be listed as “noncash GU.”

Your Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement (“Form W-2”) will include the value of the gift card(s) earned and the related tax amount. If your spouse or partner receives a gift card, the value of his/her gift card(s) and the related tax amount will also be reported on your Form W-2.

When are gift cards taxed?

You’ll be taxed when you earn Live Well Rewards, not when you redeem or spend the gift card.

Example: You reach Level 1 in June and earn a $10 Live Well Reward. You redeem it for an Amazon gift card in August. You will be taxed in June.

Can I donate my Pulse Points? If I do, will I receive a receipt?

Yes, you may choose to donate your earned Pulse Points to a charitable cause. Go to the Rewards tab in your Virgin Pulse account to see the nonprofit organizations where your points can be donated. Charitable options for 2025 include the American Heart Association, World Food Program USA, Clean Water Fund and Special Olympics.

If you donate Pulse Points to a charitable organization, you will receive a receipt showing the dollar amount donated. After you make your donation, the receipt will be sent to your preferred email address.

What if I’m leaving Citi and I have earned Live Well Rewards but haven’t redeemed them for gift cards yet?

You must be working at Citi to redeem Live Well Rewards for gift cards, so redeem your Live Well Rewards for gift cards before you terminate employment, if possible.

Do I need to request gift cards in certain amounts?

You can redeem your Live Well Rewards for gift cards at any time in the amounts made available by the merchants and retailers who offer them. Gift card values will vary by merchant and retailer and are subject to minimums. In addition, you may redeem your rewards in separate gift cards with different merchants and retailers. Visit Virgin Pulse through My Total Compensation and Benefits or log in directly to see the gift card options available to you.

Are there any restrictions on using gift cards?

View the terms and conditions section below your card’s activation instructions to see any gift card restrictions. Generally, gift cards won’t expire and can be used at the selected merchant or retailer either online or in person by anyone in possession of the card, so keep them in a safe place until you use them.

How long will it take to receive my gift cards after I request them?

Gift cards will be delivered electronically. In most cases, the gift card can be used immediately; however, for some retailers, gift cards may take one to two business days to be activated.

Is there any way to redeem my Live Well Rewards for cash?

No, but with the wide selection of gift cards available, we believe you’ll find one that works for you.

When can I complete activities to earn Live Well Rewards?

The Live Well Rewards Program plan year runs from October 1 through September 30 each year. Earn the maximum Live Well Rewards by earning enough Pulse Points to reach Level 4 each quarter and completing action rewards that are available throughout the year.

What if I still have a Live Well Rewards balance at the start of the Live Well Rewards plan year that begins on October 1? Will my Live Well Rewards carry over into the new plan year?

Yes. Your unused Live Well Rewards balance carries over from one year to the next as long as you are a Citi employee or spouse/partner.

Health Assessment

Before you begin your journey toward improved health, it’s important to understand your current health status. We encourage you to take the Live Well Health Assessment each year, which provides insights into potential health goals and gives you the opportunity to earn discounts on your medical plan paycheck deductions, as well.

If you (and your spouse/partner) are enrolled in a Citi medical plan and take the Health Assessment during the designated timeframe in the fall, you will each earn a $100 discount on your annual medical plan paycheck deductions the next year. If you’re not enrolled in a Citi medical plan, you’ll earn $100 in Live Well Rewards (redeemable for a gift card). Your unenrolled spouse/partner is not eligible for Live Well Rewards.

How to Take the Health Assessment

Immediately after completing the last question on the Health Assessment, you will see your health score. You can also view your Health Assessment results and completion date at any time through your Virgin Pulse account.

Be Sure to Take the Live Well Health Assessment Each Year

Even if you completed the Health Assessment in the past, you must take it again each fall to earn a $100 reduction on your medical plan paycheck deductions (or $100 Live Well Reward if you are not enrolled in Citi medical benefits) for the following plan year.

New or Transferred Employees

We encourage new employees to take the Health Assessment since it may identify areas where they can improve their health. However, new employees who join Citi or transfer from an international business or assignment on or after September 24 will not be able to earn the $100 Live Well Reward for taking the Health Assessment.

New employees have 31 days to enroll in benefits. After they enroll, their eligibility information is sent electronically to Virgin Pulse to reflect in the records that a new member is eligible for the program. Depending on when within the 31-day period the employee enrolls, there may not be enough time for him or her to access the Health Assessment in order for Virgin Pulse to process the Live Well Reward in time for the following plan year.

Your Information Is Protected

The Live Well Health Assessment only takes 15 minutes to complete, and the information you enter into your Health Assessment and the data in your personalized report are protected in accordance with the privacy and security rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, as amended (“HIPAA”). Virgin Pulse adheres to HIPAA privacy and security guidelines that are designed to ensure that no one at Citi has access to your personalized data or results.

At Citi, we are committed to helping you make healthy choices, every day. That is why our office locations across the globe are tobacco-free. To facilitate living well tobacco-free, Citi gives you access to a wealth of tobacco cessation resources through Virgin Pulse, our wellness partner, that have been proven to be effective by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Learn how to take advantage of the tobacco cessation support available through Virgin Pulse below.

Need Help Quitting Tobacco?

The program is available to all benefits-eligible Citi employees (even those not enrolled in a Citi medical plan), as well as spouses/partners who are enrolled in a Citi medical plan.

Note: If you are age 18 or over and are enrolled in Citi medical coverage, you may be eligible to receive generic over-the-counter and generic tobacco cessation prescription drugs, or Chantix smoking cessation products at no cost to you to assist you in ending your tobacco use.

Tobacco Penalty

Citi takes tobacco use and its harmful effects seriously, and we recognize the role that tobacco use plays in driving up health care costs. As a result, we impose a tobacco penalty on employees and spouses/partners enrolled in a Citi medical plan.

You and your enrolled spouse/partner will each pay a $600 annual penalty ($23 per paycheck for 26 paychecks) for your medical coverage if:

  • You attest to using tobacco products when you enroll in benefits; or
  • You don’t complete the Tobacco Cessation program through Virgin Pulse by September 30; or
  • You do not complete the Tobacco Free Attestation during Annual Benefits Enrollment, even if you are tobacco free.

You can avoid the tobacco penalty by:

  • Attesting to being a “non-user of tobacco” when you enroll in benefits; or
  • Completing the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program by September 30.

You are considered a “non-user of tobacco” if you have not used tobacco (cigarettes, cigars, pipes) or any tobacco products in the past six months. Tobacco products include e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, such as chewing tobacco and snuff.

If you or your spouse/partner complete the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program in the middle of the plan year, you will stop paying the penalty as soon as administratively possible (within two pay cycles of program completion). Once the program is completed, you will receive a full refund of all penalty payments made during that same plan year, if you complete the program by September 30.

To “complete” the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program, you or your spouse/partner must complete either:

  • At least four sessions with a tobacco cessation health coach ; or
  • Complete an online tobacco Journey.

Complete Your Choice of Tobacco Cessation Journeys

You or your spouse/partner can choose from any of the following Journeys to complete the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program:

  • Consider Becoming Smoke-Free
  • Prepare to Be Smoke-Free
  • Ready, Set, Go Smoke-Free
  • Stay on Track, Stay Smoke-Free
  • 10-Day Smoke Free Transition

You can complete any of the above journeys by visiting Virgin Pulse through My Total Compensation and Benefits. Once you complete the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program, the Citi Benefits Center will receive confirmation from Virgin Pulse and will stop your penalty payments as soon as administratively possible, if it is completed by September 30.

Quitting Tobacco Products on Your Own?

If you quit tobacco use on your own instead of through the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program, you can still stop paying the penalty mid-year and have all your penalty payments refunded. You must complete an affidavit that says you quit using tobacco products on your own and send it to the Citi Benefits Center You’ll receive a full refund of all penalty payments in the current year once your affidavit is completed, if it is received by September 30.

Accidentally Did Not Complete the Tobacco Free Attestation When You Enrolled in Benefits?

Any employee who did not complete the Tobacco Free Attestation when he or she enrolled in benefits during Annual Benefits Enrollment and who is enrolled in a Citi medical plan will begin paying the tobacco penalty as of January 1 or as soon as administratively possible after he or she enrolls in benefits without completing the tobacco-free attestation.

In order to stop paying the penalty, you must call the Citi Benefits Center via ConnectOne at 1 (800) 881-3938. From the ConnectOne “benefits” menu, choose the “health and insurance benefits as well as TRIP and spending accounts” option. You can speak with a representative to discuss discontinuing the tobacco penalty from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Check for Your Tobacco Penalty

You can find out whether you are paying the tobacco penalty by visiting Your Benefits Resources™ (YBR™), available through My Total Compensation and Benefits:

  • Under "Want to Get to Our Best In Class Vendors Fast?" click on "Health and Insurance (YBR)."
  • Next click on “View Your Coverage Costs.” This page will show all your medical plan costs as well as any penalties and/or incentives you are receiving.

In addition, your confirmation of benefits enrollment (which will be mailed to your address on record after the Annual Benefits Enrollment period) will indicate if you’re paying the tobacco penalty.
