Overview

Welcome! At Citi, we are proud to provide comprehensive benefits that aim to help you and your family live well, feel well and save well. We recognize that everyone has different needs when it comes to benefits. That’s why we’re committed to offering a diverse benefits program that offers something for everyone.

Starting a new job is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. We know you have plenty to think about, so we strive to make the process of enrolling in Citi's benefit plans a little easier. There are licensed benefits counselors who can provide you with one-on-one, personalized support to enroll in Citi benefits. They will answer all your questions, walk you through the available options and help you enroll in your selected benefits — making sure you don’t miss out on any of the great programs available to you!

In addition, we’ve created the following roadmap to guide you through the beginning of your journey at Citi, helping you focus on the right steps at the right time.

Your 90-Day Roadmap

Use this roadmap to make the most of your first three months at Citi.

First Week: Get Started

Schedule a Personalized Session with a Benefits Counselor

Make an appointment to speak on the phone one-on-one with a licensed benefits counselor who can explain your options and help you make the best choices for your needs. Your counselor can answer any questions you have about Citi’s benefits program and assist with the entire enrollment process for health, insurance and retirement benefits. This personalized service is available to you during your first 31 days at Citi.

Get Started with Your Benefits

Before your appointment, it’s a good idea to review this site’s Get Started with Your Benefits page to begin learning about all of the benefits Citi has to offer. Then, you’ll be ready to ask questions during your enrollment session. If you’d like more detailed information, review the Benefits Handbook.

Review Important Plan Materials

As you get started with Citi’s health and insurance plans and the Retirement Savings Plan, be sure to review important materials related to these benefits.

  • Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs): Health and insurance plan SPDs and the Retirement Savings Plan SPD are available within the Citi Benefits Handbook. These documents provide detailed information about the plans.
  • Guides, Brochures and Notices: Look in the “Documents” section on the right side of this page to find educational guides, helpful brochures and important legal notices for the Citi Retirement Savings Plan. Review these documents carefully for valuable tips about keeping your account safe from fraud, investment selection instructions and more!
  • Annual Fee Disclosure Statement: Visit My Total Compensation and Benefits and click on the link to Your Benefits Resources (YBR™) to access the most recent Annual Fee Disclosure Statement, which provides a description of fees and expenses associated with the Retirement Savings Plan.

Explore My Total Compensation and Benefits

My Total Compensation and Benefits is your secure, password-protected gateway to personalized information about your Citi compensation and benefits. It’s also your seamless connection to Your Benefits Resources (YBR™), where you can:

  • Set your Citi Retirement Savings Plan contribution rate — enroll today so that you can start saving right away. Now is also a good time to review and select your investment options. You can speak with Alight Financial Advisors (AFA) Investment Advisors for personalized decision support by calling 1 (800) 881-3938. When you call, select “benefits” from the prompt menu, then the “401(k) Plans” option, and “Contact an Advisor Regarding Investment Advice and Financial Guidance.” Note that if you do not actively enroll or opt out of the Citi Retirement Savings Plan, you will be automatically enrolled after 90 days from your hire date, and 6% of your eligible pay will be withheld from your paycheck each pay period and contributed to the Citi Retirement Savings Plan as a before-tax contribution.
  • Enroll in your health and insurance benefits — you must enroll within 31 days of your hire date. Take this time to familiarize yourself with all your options and consider your coverage needs.

Remember, a benefits counselor can help you with these enrollment steps or offer assistance as you navigate My Total Compensation and Benefits and Your Benefits Resources (YBR™).

First Month: Build Momentum

Enroll in Benefits

Once you’ve reviewed your health and insurance benefit options, be sure to enroll within 31 days of your hire date. There are three ways you can enroll:

  • With assistance from a benefits counselor: If you’d like personalized guidance and hands-on support, schedule a one-on-one phone enrollment session with a licensed benefits counselor who will explain your options, help you make confident decisions about your benefits and process your enrollment. This service is available to you during your first 31 days at Citi.
  • Online: If you know what benefits you’d like to elect and want to enroll online, visit Your Benefits Resources (YBR™), available through My Total Compensation and Benefits. To enroll in Group Universal Life (GUL) and Supplemental AD&D insurance, you must do so directly with MetLife. Visit My Total Compensation and Benefits and click on “Group Universal Life” under “Want to get to our best in class vendors fast?” to connect to the MetLife MyBenefits website.
  • By phone: If you want to make your benefit elections by phone, call the Citi Benefits Center via ConnectOne at 1 (800) 881-3938, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). From the “benefits” menu, select the “health and insurance benefits as well as TRIP and spending accounts” option. If you’re outside the United States or Puerto Rico, call 1 (469) 220-9600. Note: All family members must be listed as a covered dependent under each individual plan. When enrolling by phone, you must ask a Citi Benefits Center representative to “cover” each dependent.

*Note: If you are hired on or after September 24, 2024, or you have not completed your new hire/newly eligible benefits enrollment on or before September 24, 2024, you will need to enroll in both your 2024 benefits and your 2025 benefits separately.

Provide Tobacco User Status

At Citi, we value tobacco-free living, and we give you resources to help you get (and stay) tobacco free. As part of our commitment to a tobacco-free community, we ask all of our employees to attest to their tobacco user status when enrolling in benefits. Be sure to complete the Tobacco Attestation when you enroll, regardless of your tobacco user status. If you and/or your enrolled spouse/partner use tobacco:

  • You’ll pay a $600 penalty ($1,200 if you both use tobacco products).
  • You’ll have the opportunity to receive a refund on paid penalties if you complete the Live Well Tobacco Cessation Program.

Verify Dependents

If you enrolled any dependents on your Citi benefits, you have 45 days to provide information verifying their eligibility. If you do not submit the required documentation within this timeframe, your newly added dependent’s coverage will be canceled, and any claims made to date will not be paid.

If you need assistance, a licensed benefits counselor can help you complete the verification step during your one-on-one session. Remember, this personalized service is only available during your first 31 days at Citi.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to enroll in health and insurance benefits? What happens if I don’t enroll or miss the enrollment deadline?

You must enroll within 31 days of your hire date to receive medical, dental and vision coverage, as well as any supplemental health coverage. You must also enroll if you wish to participate in a Health Care Spending Account (HCSA), Limited Purpose Health Care Spending Account (LPSA), Dependent Day Care Spending Account (DCSA) or the MetLife Legal Plans. If you do not enroll in health and insurance benefits within 31 days of your hire date, you will only have core benefits, which Citi provides to all employees at no cost.

You will have another opportunity to enroll in benefits during the Annual Enrollment period, which takes place every fall. You may also make changes to your benefits if you experience certain life events — such as a marriage, divorce, new child or change in coverage under another plan — known as qualified changes in status.

Note about life and disability insurance: If you pass up your initial opportunity to enroll in Group Universal Life (GUL) coverage or decline automatic enrollment in Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage, you will need to provide evidence of insurability (proof of good health) should you decide to enroll at a later date.

How do I enroll in my health and insurance benefits?

There are three ways you can enroll:

  • With assistance from a benefits counselor: If you’d like personalized guidance and hands-on support, schedule a personalized phone enrollment session with a licensed benefits counselor who will explain your options, help you identify the benefits that best match your needs and process your enrollment. This service is available to you during your first 31 days at Citi.
  • Online: If you know what benefits you’d like to elect and want to enroll online, you can make your own benefit elections and add covered family members on Your Benefits Resources (YBR™), available through My Total Compensation and Benefits.

How do I enroll in the Retirement Savings Plan?

You’re eligible to enroll in the Retirement Savings Plan beginning on your first day at Citi. For personalized guidance with your plan enrollment or account updates during your first 31 days at Citi, schedule a phone appointment with a benefits counselor.

You can set, change or stop your contributions, select your investment options and manage your account online through My Total Compensation and Benefits. You can also call the Citi Benefits Center via ConnectOne at 1 (800) 881-3938, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). From the “benefits” menu, select the “401(k) Plans” option.

If you do not make an election within 90 days of your hire date, Citi will automatically enroll you in the Retirement Savings Plan, and 6% of your eligible pay will be withheld from your paycheck each pay period and contributed to the Citi Retirement Savings Plan on a before-tax basis. Your contributions will be invested in target date funds, which are the Plan’s default investment option. In addition, if you are automatically enrolled, your contribution rate will increase by 1% each year until it reaches 15%.

How do I know which health benefits are best for me?

We’re here to help you make the right choices for you and your family. The steps below can support you in making your benefit elections:

  • Schedule a personalized enrollment session. Why not make it easy on yourself? Speak with a licensed benefits counselor who can help you understand all your options and make the best choices for your needs. And, if you have access to other coverage, such as through your spouse or partner, share this information with a benefits counselor, who can help you decide which plan provides the most value. This hands-on service is available to you during your first 31 days at Citi.
  • Review your benefits information. To get started with your benefits, read through an overview of all of the options available to you. Also be sure to carefully compare your medical plan options and check the networks before you enroll.
  • Call Health Advocate at 1 (866) 449-9933 with questions about coverage or if you’re not sure where to start.

What if I change my mind after the enrollment deadline has passed?

Once the enrollment deadline for health and insurance benefits has passed, you will have to wait until the next Annual Enrollment period to make any changes to most of your benefits. However, you may be able to make changes to your benefits when you experience certain life events – such as a marriage, divorce, new child or change in coverage under another plan – known as qualified changes in status. For Group Universal Life (GUL) coverage, Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage and the Transportation Reimbursement Incentive Program (TRIP), you can enroll, modify or cancel at any time.

Who do I call if I have questions?

If you need help enrolling or have questions about your benefits or eligibility, the best thing to do is schedule a phone appointment with a licensed benefits counselor. You’ll receive personalized support and expert guidance to help you make the best choices for your needs. This hands-on service is available to you during your first 31 days at Citi.

If you just have a quick question or need support after your first 31 days, the Citi Benefits Center is available via ConnectOne at 1 (800) 881-3938, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. From the “benefits” menu, select the “health and insurance benefits as well as TRIP and spending accounts” option.

In addition, Health Advocate is available to guide you to the right resources when you need them, so you get the most out of all your Citi Benefits. Speak to a Personal Health Advocate by calling 1 (866) 449-9933, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., ET, Monday through Friday.
